Step 4 – Optional US Sailing Registration
Most of the Circuit Regattas will offer a discount on the entry fee with a US Sailing membership. Although not required, we encourage US Sailing membership. Membership may be obtained online at https://www1.ussailing.org/mem/default.aspx
Step 5 – Confirm Proof of Insurance
It has become a regular practice to require proof of insurance as a condition of entry to regattas. Each participating boat should be prepared to provide proof of valid third-party insurance with a minimum coverage of $300,000 per incident or the amount as required by the regatta organizers. Each helmsperson should research insurance options. One option is Gowrie Group who provides One Design focused insurance: https://www.gowrie.com/USSailingPrograms/OneDesignProgram.aspx
Step 6 – Confirm or Prepare for Measurement Certificate
A boat without a Measurement Certificate may race in the J/24 Texas Circuit only with prior approval of and only during the timeframe as designated by the Governor.
A list of USJCA Class Measurers may be found at the following website: http://j24usa.com/organization/measurement-committee/
The general guideline for attaining a Measurement Certificate is before or within the second year of the boat entering the J/24 Texas Circuit.
If planning to race in Regattas designated for the J/24 Texas Circuit on a boat that has not yet obtained a measurement certificate, please contact John Parker at governor@j24district14.com with this information to begin a dialogue on next steps.
Step 7 – Confirm Sail/Hull Number Alignment
If planning to race on the J/24 Texas Circuit, one should prepare the boat to meet the J/24 Class Rules. A key element of this preparation is ensuring that the appropriate sail numbers are available for racing with the correct designations. The Sail Number should match the associated Hull Number, all sails should have the same sail number, and competitors should be carrying 1 Main, 1 Jib, 1 Genoa, and up to 2 Spinnakers during a J/24 Texas Circuit racing event.
Step 8 – Register for your Regatta
Go to the registration page of your chosen regatta(s) and register for the event(s).
